Contact: Pat Sickles (561-746-7993)

Monday Evenings from 6:30-8:00pm &
Tuesday Afternoons from 2-3:30pm
Location: The Center for Spiritual Renewal

The purpose of this gathering is to combine the love of knitting, crocheting, and quilting into a powerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of encouragement. Shawls have been made for centuries, providing warmth and comfort to the wearer. Weaving healing prayers into the fabric of the shawl has resulted in a ministry that reaches out to those in need of support.

If you have a special love for handiwork or would love to learn how to create a prayer shawl you are invited to be a part of this group. You are invited to become part of this group that meets weekly!
All enjoy the fellowship of this ministry of compassion and creativity.

Prayer Shawl Team supports the Motherbear Charitable Organization

The JupiterFirst Church Prayer Shawl team knitted and crocheted seventeen teddy bears in support of the Motherbear Charitable Organization based in Minneapolis. This group collects the bears, knit red hearts on all of them, and then ship them to children in Africa who have HIV/AIDS. To learn more about this organization go to From their site you can see cute pictures of the children holding the bears.

Prayer Shawl Annual Report

The Prayer Shawl group knitted and crocheted 198 prayer shawls, lap blankets, baby blankets, hats and scarves in 2015, bringing our grand total to 1898 over ten years. We gave lap blankets and shawls to those members who were in need of comfort and supplied baby blankets to all babies baptized in our church. In addition, we gave 24 shawls and lap robes to Jupiter Medical Center for the Foshay Center chemo patients and others. Six shawls went to Harmony, the memory unit at Allegro, three shawls to the Lotus Foundation for breast cancer survivors, and four baby blankets and four shawls to Hannah's Home.

We completed a big national hat and scarf project in November, sending 80 hats and scarves to Cleveland for the homeless. We sent more than 30 hats to South Carolina for the homeless there. We also sent six shawls plus 20 hats and scarves to the San Francisco Night Ministry who distributed them to the homeless right before Christmas.

Finally we filled Christmas food baskets for three needy church families.

What a blessing it is to be part of this vibrant ministry. We welcome new members at any time.  -Laurie Bohlke

"Sincere thanks for the beautiful shawl. It was a constant comfort to me in the hospital and I could feel the love in every loop. I now take it with me to chemo so I can continue to feel wrapped in your prayers. You have no idea how helpful it is to feel like I am not walking this path alone."

"Thank you for the lovely Prayer Shawl. It was so nice to have it and hold it during my sons memorial service. I will keep it near and dear to my heart."

" The warm and fuzzy Prayer Shawl is exactly the best medicine anyone could have given me. Thank you for this beautiful gift that comes with your prayers and Gods Grace."

"My name is Tommi Sitton. I am Jim and Muriel Sitton's Sister-in-Law. I am helping them to thank some people who have helped them during this difficult time. Muriel loves the prayer shawl that was given by the ladies from your church. It is perfect for Muriel because she is always cold when the rest of us are hot. It also reminds her that so many people love her and are praying for them. So, on their behalf, thank you for your kindness. God bless, Tommi Sitton."
